Foods to Avoid Before Flying

If you’ve ever been on a flight and felt bloated and gassy (or you’ve sat next to someone who was quite clearly ‘feeling gassy’) you may have realised that the foods you eat directly before you fly can have a massive impact on how you feel (and how your bodily functions can betray you) when you’re in the air.

So what foods should you avoid when flying, and (more importantly), which foods should you eat instead? Let’s take a look:

In general, when flying you should avoid foods that increase water retention and foods that can are likely to cause indigestion or a build up of gases.

The obvious culprits include broccoli, Brussel sprouts, peaches, bread, salty snacks, fried foods and carbonated soft drinks.

So what should you be eating instead of these foods?

Potatoes, bananas, berries and anything with onion, garlic or turmeric on it are all great choices.

In addition to this, drinking green tea is also a great stress reliever and can help you to calm any pre-flight nerves.
