Looking for a romantic getaway with your loved one?

A recent poll conducted by MissTravel.com concluded that London beat off competition from such heavyweights as Rome, Paris and Milan for the title of ‘Most romantic city in Europe’.

Voters cited the city’s sprawling parks, royal landmarks, sumptuous restaurants and dazzling nightlife as the main reasons why it secured top spot on the survey.

Brandon Wade, chief executive of MissTravel.com spoke out about the poll: “While European tourism has fallen significantly due to the recession, romance tourism has increased in the past few years.

“Romance and travel go hand in hand, and this is why cities that can inspire the hearts of Romeos and Juliets all over have seen the most improvement in tourism.

“They picked up on romantic things you can do – such as strolling through St James’s Park up to Buckingham Palace, sharing a romantic meal in Butler’s Wharf with Tower Bridge as the perfect backdrop, or enjoying the best theatre in the world in the West End.

“You can enjoy the city on a shoestring budget because so many of your attractions such as the Tate Gallery and all those amazing museums are completely free.”
