Getting the best deals when traveling largely comes down to timing (and knowing where to look).

We’ve already covered the best time to buy airline tickets (which is on a Tuesday roughly eight weeks before your flight, incase you were wondering), but what about buying tickets for cruises? Is there a best time to book a cruise?

The prices of airline ticket are notorious for fluctuating (in a fairly predictable manner, if you analyze the statistics), and in a similar way it seems there is a best time to buy cruise tickets.

You’ll often find the best rates on cruises right after the booking for them has opened. This is usually between a 12 and 18 months before the cruise is set for departure.

Best time to book a cruiseAccording to the blog CruiseNow.com, the next best time to book a cruise is during the ‘wave season’, which runs between January and March of every year.

The ‘wave season’ is when cruise lines roll out their best deals each year and the cruise industry goes into overdrive.

Not only are fares lower at this time, but this is when cruise companies offer all sorts of extra perks to entice customers. These ‘extra perks’ can be anything from free upgrades, lower deposits or onboard credits.
